Westin Kierland Golf Club Review

A review of the Westin Kierland Gold Club

By: Clark Hogan

The Westin Kierland Golf Club is a Scott Miller designed golf course that features 27 holes (three 9 hole courses - Acacia, Ironwood and Mesquite) with over 300 bunkers, lakes, dry washes and desert trees. Many people describe the course as beautifully manicured, unforgettable and relaxing (“relaxing” depends on who you’re asking and what they shoot that day lol). The cool thing about this golf course is that you don’t have to ride in a golf cart if you don’t want to. They have other options, such as a Segway or a custom designed Electric Bicycle with a golf bag mounted to the back. The Westin Kierland offers dramatic elevation changes, rolling terrain, and pristine conditions all while taking in the picturesque
views of the surrounding mountains.

After your round of golf, don’t forget to stop in the Brittlebush Bar & Grill. This modern gastropub offers a balance of Arizona favorites and unique dishes of Scottish influences. The bar includes a wide variety of Scotch, imported draft and domestic beers as well as anything else you can think of. Brittlebush overlooks the golf course and nearby mountain ranges. Great place for a Happy Hour or a causal lunch or dinner.

The Westin Kierland Golf Club has partnered up with PING to offer one of the best club fitting experiences available. The Kierland Performance Center Club Fitting. Factory trained PING Club Fitters offer club fitting 4 days per week at the course.

You’re able to book a tee time up to 60 days in advance at The Westin Kierland Golf Club. The club offers rates for Juniors and options to hold your own public outing or event. After 3pm, Juniors play for free with the purchase of an adult greens fee.

Kierland has also partnered with CADDIEMASTER to enhance the overall golf experience by offering caddies. Caddies help with course knowledge, finding your golf ball, raking bunkers, cleaning your clubs, reading greens and making your round much more memorable. It’s $100 per player with an 18 hole
Single Premium caddie round or $60 per player if you decide on the Double Bag caddie round where your caddie carries two players bags. A forecaddie is also something they offer which is a caddie that will come along with you as you drive the golf cart. They won’t carry your bag but instead give you the knowledge and help with your entire group. This is $30 per player. Caddie reservations must be made 48 hours in advance and a $20 per player tip is recommended after the end of the round. If you have never played golf with a Caddie before, I highly recommend it.

Kierland was ranked top 10 public golf courses in Phoenix/Scottsdale by Golf Advisor and ranked by Golf Digest as “one of Americas 9 most cheerful golf courses.” It is managed by Troon Golf and outside of being a spectacular golf course, it’s also a top-notch resort. If you’re looking for a getaway where you
can play golf, relax and enjoy your surroundings then this is the place for you. The resort offers an adventure waterpark with a 900-foot lazy river, 110 foot waterslide, an adult pool, cabanas and islands. Just steps away from the resort, you have Kierland Commons which is filled with shopping, dining and
entertainment.
